PARTIES AND SUSHI…
Yesterday was filled with social events and memories to last me through the long winter. I attended Richelle’s and Heath’s wedding, dinner and dance and had a grand time visiting with friends and watching everyone have a good time. I love seeing all the toddlers, dressed in their finery, on the dance floor scampering about in circles and begging to to be held to dance with their parents and other big people. I don’t know who they all belonged to but I hope they are Ellsworth residents as their numbers are a good sign for our future school enrollment.
Following the wedding dance, my friend Lisa celebrated her big five O at Paden’s where a “luau and karaoke” party was in progress when I arrived. It was fun. We all wore leis and lent an ear to the continuous string of people who took their turn with the mike. I came home about eleven before the onset of over the edge “top overs” , “pants off dance off” and offensive language singing began. Those are few in number. The group of pub crawlers who function more during the night than day, few of whom I know, were arriving and it was time to call it a day. I gathered many good memories throughout the day.
For you sushi lovers (as are my family members sans moi), take a look at this posting and links by Mousie Cat on Evolving in Kansas.
A biologist walks into a sushi bar and orders some tuna. What does he get? Escolar, a nasty fish with buttery flesh that can cause bizarre episodes of diarrhea, accompanied by a waxy intestinal discharge.
It’s not a joke. It happened five times to the same scientists during a brief research project. The results of that study were published Wednesday in PLOS One.
“A piece of tuna sushi has the potential to be an endangered species, a fraud or a health hazard,” wrote the authors. “All three of these cases were uncovered in this study.”
Tomorrow would be my main squeeze’s 84th birthday. We’ll still celebrate when the family gathers on Thanksgiving Day. All of us have big holes where he and Dane one resided.
Thanks for tuning in….
