MORE ABOUT LOCKING DOORS….

Filed under: prairie musings, ellsworth — Peg Britton @ 8:27 am

Probably I should not have made the posting about “locking doors” lacking further explanation.  It alarmed a couple of friends of mine who contacted me with legitimate concerns.

Recently, a young adult friend of mine went home from work as she was sick.  She locked the doors as she was preparing to take a shower.  A male tried two different doors to enter her house but was unsuccessful. She only saw him from the side, but didn’t know him.   She also told me a local housewife found a stranger in her house and “shooed him out”.  I haven’t checked that out.

I don’t know the details of either of these situations or if there is more or less to know than the above.  Maybe someone can fill me in.

What I was basing my concern on was the number of bulgaries  that have popped up recently, mostly in rural areas.  This week’s INDY lists nine different entries for burglaries which far exceed the usual number.  The bad guys are looking for copper tubing, wiring, tools…anything they can turn into easy cash. Recently, one was arrested while his partner escaped arrest.
This is not something to worry about, but I do think it’s a good idea to lock doors and be cautious.

Thanks for tuning in…
